5 on Friday: 5 Berlin Things

This weeks 5 on Friday is a continuation of the Berlin theme started earlier in the week with my review of Alone in Berlin.   A couple of weeks ago the mister and I spent a weekend in Berlin to celebrate our birthdays which happen to fall just a week apart.  I had wanted to go for a while and birthdays seemed as good a reason as any to visit.

These are 5 of the highlights.

1.   The Berlin Wall – It’s  impossible to visit Berlin without tripping over the wall and being drawn into its incredible story

2.   Brandenburger Tor

3.   Walking – There are still lots of hidden gems in Berlin, particularly on the East side.  We did a cultural, historical walking tour with Slow Travel Berlin, a fantastic way to discover parts of Berlin we may not have found alone

4.   Weekend People Watching and Flea Markets – Berliners love a Flea Market and the biggest can be found at Mauerpark, for  music, food and fripperies

5.   Cake and Beer –  I don’t drink Beer but my man does, however I do eat cake.  There are lots of both and lots of lovely cafes to indulge in both!

Ohhh love this! We’ve been thinking of a little Berlin trip sometime (ie in the next 10 years!) and this has made me want to go even more!
