5 on Friday: 5 Things to do on a Wintery Weekend

Winter

  1. Get organised this weekend and write your Christmas card list.  In a digital, social media flooded world, I’m all for the handwritten and still love sending and receiving a Christmas card.
  2. Make some soup.  Shorter days and colder darker nights leave me in need of something comforting to eat, and home made soup always hits the spot.  Roast Butternut Squash is my personal favourite and the one I shall be making on Saturday
  3. Plan your Christmas read.  Its always good to read something Christmassy as the festive season approaches.   My usual choice is ‘A Christmas Carol’.  However this year I’m torn between Agatha Christies ‘The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding’ and ‘The Greatest Gift’ which is the story on which It’s A Wonderful Life is based.
  4. Sort through all the photographs you’ve taken this year, you’ll be amazed by how many there are.  Then think about printing the favourites or making a scrap book or album with your highlights of 2016.  Something I mean to do every year.
  5. Commit to walking 10000 steps on one of the weekend days.  Most of us have an app on our phones to measure steps and you’ll be amazed how many you can clock up if you put your mind to it.  You can then reward yourself a with Lindt chocolate reindeer, and who doesn’t like a Lindt chocolate reindeer.
