Can there be anything much nicer things than waking up on a Monday morning to sunshine, clear blue skies and the prospect of a whole week away from work?
This week I am on a ‘staycation’ and I couldn’t be happier. I love living in London and I love the opportunity to be a ‘local tourist’ in my home town for a few days.
My ‘staycation’ got off to a fabulous start on Friday night with a sunny stroll along the Southbank, a potter around Foyles Bookshop and a much-anticipated visit to the Matisse Cut Outs Exhibition at Tate Modern.
I love Matisse and have proudly displayed a copy of ‘The Snail’ on my kitchen wall for several years.
I had looked forward to this exhibition for some time and it did not disappoint. It is truly joyful. The depth of colours and the mix of complex and simple shapes was all I had hoped for. The exhibition runs until 7th September. If you are in London and have the opportunity do go, its fabulous.
I am looking forward to filling my week with trips to other exhibitions, visiting new bookshops and coffee shops and of course lots of reading. All of which I shall of course be writing about here!
