I was introduced to the concept of the mug cake by a work colleague. I was instantly inspired and it has gone on to solve a few Christmas Present conundrums for me. I chose suitable mugs; popped a couple of salted caramel chocs into cases and dropped them into the bottom of the mugs; measured the dry ingredients into cellophane bags, and decorated with some festive ribbon. The bags of ingredients sit on top of the salted caramels. Some basic instructions, printed out and decorated with the obligatory Christmassy washi tape completed the gift.
The Dry ingredients are pretty straightforward:
4 tbsp Plain Flour
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
3 tbsp Coco Powder
4 tbsp Light brown or Castor Sugar
2 Salted Caramel Chocolates to tuck inside the made up mix.
Egg, milk and oil and 90 seconds in the microwave, and there you have it a Salted Caramel Chocolate Christmas Mug Cake.
I’m pretty pleased with how they look, I hope those I am giving them too find that they don’t only look good but taste good too.
HO HO HO!
I love this idea – saw the book about them the other day and thought what a great dinner party pud they’d make! Yummy x
