I appreciate this isn’t typical of the image which usually greets you when you open Changing pages. There are no flowers or books or pretty things, the sort of thing that often inspire me and illustrate my posts. This may help you understand why, when the husband asked me if I would like to go and see a battle ship, I did’t respond with immediate unbridled excitement. However, a sunny Sunday afternoon in Greenwich was appealing.
If you live in the UK you probably realise that this weekend has been a weekend of commemorating the 70th anniversary of VE Day. As part of that celebration, The Royal Navy’s HMS Ocean was moored in the middle of The Thames with the opportunity for civvies such as us to step on board.
First sighting of this statuesque military vessel soon put my initial reservations to rest and we enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon strolling around HMS Ocean marvelling at the size of the ship and the youth of the members of the royal navy responsible for it. And I must add, there really is ‘something about a sailor…..’
Hope you’ve all had a good weekend too and are ready for the week ahead. Thanks to all who have stuck with me this week as I continue my challenge to Blog Every Day in May #BEDM
