Yesterday was a beautiful day in London. Warm sunshine, cool drinks by the river and the promise of summer. Today, not so much. Umbrellas, chilly winds and hot tea. To escape this little meteorological blip, a quick dash to Tate Britain to take immerse myself in some painted warmth was needed.
I love David Hockney paintings, and although this isn’ t my favourite, the depth of the Californian sky and the contrasting blue of the water gave me a necessary injection of summer heat today. The one chair and the single splash makes this a solitary scene. However, I imagine lurking in the background groups of louche men and women clad in 60’s style bathing costumes, draped across sun loungers sipping Martini cocktails…..
