Todays Blog Every Day in May Prompt is Date Night. Date night for me and Mr V can in reality be any day of the week . However, a Saturday night trip to the cinema followed by dinner pour deux is one of my favourites. For an old fashioned date its hard to beat The Gate in Notting Hill. It’s a beautiful single screen picture house. It has an amply stocked bar, tables between the seats on which to rest your glass of wine and some double ‘love’s seats remain in the back row.
We usually take it in turns to choose the film as our tastes don’t always coincide. Tonight I’ve chosen ‘A Royal Night Out’ starring Rupert Everett and Emily Watson. It’s a story loosely based on real events. On VE Day in 1945, Princess’s Elizabeth and Margaret left the palace for a couple of hours to celebrate the end of the war with the hoards of people in The Mall. This film goes a step further and tells the story of what might have happened if they had spent the whole night away from the Palace.
Dinner is yet to be decided on……..
