Having spent the last 8 days on holiday in Iceland I have, as you might expect, had many joyful moments. In fact the whole week was full of them! From waterfalls to glaciers to Puffins to spending time with good friends, all of these things brought ample joy.
However, following a holiday, I always find joy in coming home. Particular joy today though, was finding that the peonies in my garden which I had expected to have bloomed and gone past their best by the time I got home are still staying around. It was so good to be greeted by these beautiful, blowsy (if some what droopy) flowering balls of powdery pink perfection this afternoon. The self sown foxgloves are also looking particularly good this year, and the canterbury bells are now at their beautiful best, with lots of the roses also doing their best to not be out done.
TS Elliott said that “the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and to know the place for the first time”
This is exactly how I felt as I wandered around my garden in the sunshine this afternoon.
Welcome home xx
