Walk for just a few minutes from the noise of Piccadilly Circus and the crowds of Covent Garden and you will come across some gentle calm and respite in the guise of perhaps the most beautiful stationery shop in London, Choosing Keeping.
You will not find Noddy Holder or tinsel here. What you will find is the most exquisite collection of note books, fountain pens and ink, Christmas garlands and elegant boxes of paints which would sit pretty in any Christmas stocking . There are old fashioned embossed Christmas cards, so beautiful you will want to keep for yourself. There is a rich rainbow of satin and velvet ribbons and fine Italian wrapping paper which is far too pretty to use.
Choosing Keeping’s Christmas window dressings are far from garish, they are tasteful and traditional and genteel. Hand painted images, gifts tied in hand made paper, secured with jaunty scarlet ribbons. A Christmas tree clothed in twinkly white lights displays all the unusual and quirky decorations available to buy in the shop.
Oodles of gorgeous paperly paraphernalia served alongside a liberal dose of calm and good will can be found behind the 3rd door of my London advent calendar.
