Day 19: Ottolenghi
As we begin the last week of advent, we are starting the week with some tasty treats from the always delicious Ottolenghi. There are a number of Ottolenghi restaurants and deli’s in London but the one I favour is on Pavilion Road in Chelsea. Coffee and a pastry here is one of my favourite breakfast treats. I would highly recommend lunch too. All the food is brimming with flavour and tastes influenced by middle eastern and mediterranean cuisine. The food doesn’t just look good, it tastes amazing too.
The tempting displays of melt in the mouth cakes, sweet tarts and light as air meringues in the shop windows of Ottolenghi always cause passers by to stop and gaze in longingly. At christmas when carefully packaged biscuits and cookies are tied up in red bows and the windows are festooned by enormous fir wreaths and garlands, it becomes even more eye catching.
At Christmas I adore their (rather expensive) mince pies. Deep filled, brimming with dried fruits and slivers of nuts these are a desert which I transport lovingly home in their little white box for my husband and I to tuck into with a glass of wine in the evening. Happy Christmas!
