London Bookshop Advent
Day 11- The Open Book Richmond
Do not be deceived by the small shop front to The Open Book. Opening the door of this lovely shop in Richmond and you may feel you are entering Narnia. The Open Book unexpectedly stretches back a very long way and every shelf and table top is packed full of interesting titles. If you enjoy nature writing or cookery books there is a great selection of both here. Just like Narnia, it is very easy to lose all track of time here. The choice of fiction is also extensive with lots of new and contemporary writers sitting along side some of the more established and well known authors. You will often find books signed by local resident David Attenborough too.
The service is friendly and always cheerful and you will be guaranteed a conversation with the book sellers about the book you are buying. I am always tempted by the books in the counter by the till too, which I guess is the idea.
A visit to Richmond is always a good idea and The book shop is located just off the main shopping street and moments from both pretty Richmond Green and the River Thames so if the weather is good, finding somewhere to sit and read your book purchases is easy. Depending on the time of year, nearby Danieli is excellent for hot chocolate or ice cream!
