The Weekend Wander #34 Celebration

This weekend in our house is a special celebration one as my husband has a big birthday. We shall be celebrating over the next couple of days with friends and again on a couple of other occasions during the summer.  Why have one birthday do when you can have 3!

Easter is also almost upon us, and Spring has sprung – apparently.  It certainly hasn’t felt much like it so far, boots and big coats have still been required in London this week.

All of these things mean I have been thinking and planning celebrations this week.  I thought I would share some of my finds with you.  After all, should’t every weekend be a celebration!

Hello Party

This is a great first stop for balloons and bunting.  Doesn’t every celebration need balloons an bunting? My house is now festooned with strings of paper pom poms and large gold balloons so the celebrating can really begin. You can shop for similar goodies here.

Easter Biscuits

I enjoy celebrating Easter and began by making some Easter biscuits last weekend from a Mary Berry Recipe.  As with all things (in my experience) Mary Berry they are straightforward to make and tasty too.  An easy thing to make with children if you are looking for Easter Activities or a sweet treat to add to your Easter celebration.  You can find the recipe here.

Birthday Cake

No birthday celebration is complete with out a cake.  My husband would probably take this a step further and say no birthday is complete without chocolate cake.  So just for him I shall be making my go to celebration cake sans Nigella. Birthday Custard Sponge is always a winner.  I’ve made it on lots of occasions now.  It may not be the most stylish but it is very hard to resist with its glossy coat of chocolate icing and buttery custard cream filling.  The recipe is available in ‘Feast’ by Nigella Lawson, or you can find it here.

Have a fabulous weekend X
