Festive London

If you have been following me on  instagram during December, you can’t have failed to notice that I have been sharing lots of festive London scenes. For one reason and another I have had the opportunity to do lots of walking and take lots of photographs.  This has been a real treat because I really don’t think London has ever looked more festive.  Shops and businesses seemed to have pulled out all the stops this year.  Doorways are festooned in wreathes, and baubles.  Small shopping arcades sparkle with white lights and around every corner is an even more spectacular Christmas tree than the last.

Because Christmas is now upon us and there will come a time in the not too distant future when I really will have to stop sharing pictures of Christmas Trees, I thought I would share some more of my favourite festive London scenes here.  If you are in London over the festive period they might inspire you to pick up your camera and go for a walk too.  If you are not, then I hope you will enjoy them and you might feel inspired to go out on a festive photowalk in the area you live this year.

Mayfair

Mayfair is surprisingly quiet and very easy to mooch around with a camera.  As you would expect from such a salubrious area the christmas sparkle is high quality.

Covent Garden

Covent Garden never fails to please, and the morris minor piles high with presents is one of my favourite festive scenes this year.

The City and Leadenhall Market.

This part of London is full of important city types during the week and very busy.  At the weekend when they have all gone home its quiet and peaceful.  Its also the home of Sky Garden which is a great place to visit to get the best free views around of London’s sprawling mass.

Somerset House

Always enchanting.  The ice rink and Fortnum and Masons Tree does it for me every year!

Piccadilly

Piccadilly at Christmas is all about Fortnum and Masons.  Its window displays are always so pretty and the shop itself is a delight at this time of year. Walk behind the store to Jermyn Street for lots more well dressed shop fronts.

Have a wonderful last weekend  before Christmas X
