Moments of Calm

It can be difficult to find calm when the world  we live in is so punctuated by uncertainty, unrest and sadness.  Especially when we have see such atrocities as happened in New Zealand this week.  I spent a very happy month in NZ some years ago and have worked with many New Zealanders over the years.  My experience has always been of a kind and generous people.  I feel saddened by what their nation is going through. A reminder to hold on tightly to those we love and be thankful for every day.

In the last week or two my most tranquil and calming moments have been brought about by being in the out doors and feeling the force of the natural world

By The Sea

If you read my previous post you will know I had a recent trip to the sea.  I grew up in Norfolk where the coast line is beautiful and I spent many happy days by the sea.  I still find being by the the sea an incredibly calming and restorative place to be.  Even when the winds are howling and the waves are turbulent there is something soothing about the predictability and continuous nature of it.  Beach walks last weekend were just what was needed.

Running in the Rain

Thankfully, after a frustratingly slow return to running I feel I have got my running mojo back!  In the last couple of weeks I have reestablished my usual routines and I have felt much the better for it. One morning this week I ran in torrential rain and strong winds.  This may sound awful and I have to say when I initially stepped outside I did question my sanity.  However, as is so often the case, when I found my rhythm and relaxed into it, my mind relaxed too. Although I arrived home completely soaking wet  I also arrived home with renewed energy and peace of mind.

The combination of fresh air and exercise, are balm for many a troubled soul.

Wishing you a week of calm and peaceful moments.
