Moments of Calm

Well here we are Sunday evening again.  How quickly the weeks and months tick by.  Life can definitely feel a bit of a blur sometimes and finding any moments of peaceful calm can be tricky.  This is one of the reasons I enjoy writing my (mostly) weekly Moments of Calm Post.  Its  a good way of stopping and reflecting on the week gone by and appreciating those moments of calm which I may have forgotten.

Lists and Plans

I am a big list maker.  I write lists both at work and at home.  When I have a list and a plan I feel instantly calmer.  One of my Sunday evening activities to ease myself into the week, is to write a fairly exhuastive list of all the things I need or want to do during the forthcoming week.  I include absolutely everything on it from runs I want to do, birthday cards I need to organise, Emails I need to send and much, much more.  I then look at my diary for the week and allocate all of the tasks or activities to the different days and time I have available to me. It doesn’t really take long and I find if I have a good plan at the beginning of the week, I feel generally calmer on a Sunday night and certainly on a Monday morning.  Now of course I don’t always achieve everything, and things get added or taken away during the week , but having a list I can work through and check back on makes me feel organised, more in control and consequently calmer.

The Great Outdoors

I love being outside.  As I have often said, when the weather is good I would eat every meal outside if I could.  I love fresh air and being in and part of my surroundings.  This week I have managed some lovely walks around London, and along The Thames.  I have also spent a good time in our garden today. I’m not the greatest gardener but I do love gardens and flowers and I love having a pretty garden to sit in.  This afternoon I had a good few hours weeding and planting and tidying our garden.  It felt good to be out in the fresh air, and time flew by.  I’m sitting looking out at our garden now and its very satisfying to see the results of our labours.  (I should add the flowers below are not in my garden, but are in fact part of a wonderful installation in Covent Garden!)

I’ll be sharing later in the week a recent visit to Penrhyn Castle in Wales as part of a gorgeous getaway I recently had.

Also if you are going to be in London and are looking for some inspiration for some of the quieter places to visit then do have a look at my instagram.  I started a hashtag this week #findingquietlondon and its been lovely seeing some of the lovely pictures that have been shared.

I wish you a calm and organised week.
