Quiet London By Other London Bloggers and Instagrammers: Part 1

I have been so looking forward to bringing these posts to you.  As part of my ongoing mission to show you the gentler and calmer side of London I have asked some fabulous instagrammers and bloggers who share my passion for enjoying the quieter side of London life to share some of their favourite quiet London places.  This week I am thrilled to introduce Carly from The Eco EveryDay and Ruth from My Simple London

My Simple London

On Ruth’s blog “My simple London”,  she has been sharing the 365 ways she is trying to live more slowly, simply, quietly and sustainability throughout 2019.  Ruth is very aware of the importance of looking after your own wellbeing, savouring each moment and where possible simplifying life.  Ruth has so many inspiring ideas for living a simpler life in London and beyond and her Instagram account is a beautifully curated collection of gentle images of quiet moments and flowers and plants and often tea!

My Simple London’s Quiet London

“I love London so much – it is a city of vibrancy….colour…hustle and bustle but if you take a deeper look, take a different turning, walk a different path you can find sanctuaries of quiet and calm just around the corner. We are so blessed in London to have such amazing parks – standing in the middle of Hyde Park, Greenwich Park or Richmond Park I can find such oasis of peace and quiet. There are also smaller pockets of calm all over London like – St Dunstan-in-the-East, Oxleas wood and Crossrail Place roof garden in Canary Wharf.

I feel so blessed to own a home in a small pocket of South East London where I can find quiet, we have Manor House gardens which is a lovely little Park, we have a beautiful independent gift shop “Crimson and Clover” and a café “You don’t bring me flowers” that serves tea in vintage teacups, sells stunning flowers and plays retro music on an old record player. I get excited about living in London because I am always discovering new little places to spend a few moments of calm and quiet in my day.”

The Eco EveryDay

Carly is passionate about slow living and living a more sustainable life.  She has a beautiful calming instagram account where she shares pictures from sustainable and ethical brands, along side lots of gorgeous images of the quieter side of London living.  Her desire for slow living is also evident in the flowers and country side scenes which punctuate her squares.

The Eco EveryDay’s Quiet London

On days when I don’t feel like doing much at all, I love hanging out in the villagey areas of East London. My husband and I met, married, and lived there for many years and are hoping to buy a house there soon. Columbia Road is always heaving on a Sunday, and whilst I love the flower market, it’s always nice to go there on a Saturday when it’s much, much more quiet. Not everything is open, but there’s still plenty enough to do.

You’ll find the locals drinking in The Royal Oak or the Marksman. Campania is cute place for coffee, and there’s lots of great boutiques to hop in and out of. Bob & Blossom has the sweetest things for little ones, Word of Echo is great for flicking through vinyl, and the recently opened Pavilion Bakery makes the most amazing bread. And nothing really beats wandering around the neighbouring streets, the houses couldn’t really be prettier.
