What do you enjoy most about Christmas? Is it Christmas day itself? Is it the quiet inbetween days or is it advent, the time leading up to Christmas? Often it is the anticipation and all the lovely things that are part of Christmas preparations which are the most exciting.
I love to mark Advent and the countdown to Christmas. I am still part of the ‘no Christmas in November gang’ if there is such a gang! But when December rolls round I am ready to embrace the lights, the sparkle, the baking and even the shopping. Always accompanied of course by some calm Christmas reading. A significant part of my Christmas shopping will take place in book shops. I need little excuse to visit a beautiful bookshop, but if I did, Christmas is it. I love to give and receive books and always have a long list of those I would like to find in my Christmas Stocking.
Last year I so enjoyed sharing a daily London Advent post with you. I had so much lovely feedback, I knew I had to do it again. This year as we begin the count down to Christmas, from 1st December, my daily advent posts will feature a different London bookshop each day. London is full of wonderful bookshops, and there are just so many to choose from. I will be sharing with you the ones I know and love the most, alongside some new discoveries which I hope you will enjoy too.
Sometimes, the joy of advent can become lost amongst the shopping and the crowds and endless to do lists. I hope my bookshop Advent will bring a little moment of Christmas calm into your inbox each day and help you build up your own list of favourite London book shops.
If you would like to read last years London Advent posts, why not make yourself a steaming mug of hot chocolate, grab a mince pie, make yourself comfy and begin here.
Oh Angie. Now I really can’t wait for December. I loved your London advent last year and just know I’m going to love this one even more xx

What a great idea! I am adding all your suggestions to my “Things to Do in London” list and will start exploring the next time I’m there. Thanks!
