Day 1 – Nomad Books Fulham

Welcome to Day 1 of A London Bookshop Advent.  What better place to start than with one of my old favourites. I am very happy to open the door to  Nomad Books. This is a colourful bookshop  on the Fulham Road in Fulham and it is a bookshop I used to know well.  Visiting recently was a lovely trip down memory lane. I used to work just minutes from here when I was a District nurse and would often pop in for a much needed moment of calm at lunchtime or on my way back to the office.

Nomad Books is the essence of what I think a local bookshop should be.  The staff are friendly and welcoming, regulars pop in and out all the time, and there are lots of interesting author events.  When I was there I noticed they have a book signing event with Michael Morpurgo on 4th December.

The shop is  well organised with tables and shelves filled with recommendations, there is a great selection of greeting cards anda large space at the back of the shop for the children’s section.  Comfy sofas and interesting displays add to the welcoming feel.  It would be easy to settle down with a good book here.

Nomad won best London Bookshop in the British Book Awards 2023, and was shortlisted for best Children’s Bookshop in 2019. It is very easy to see why.

Their hand painted Christmas windows are very pretty too, full of snowy festive scenes.

Nearest Tube: Parsons Green, District Line
