London Bookshop Advent
Day 16 – London Review Bookshop
We are opening the door of one of London’s more well known book shops today. In the heart of Bloomsbury and moments from The British Museum is the well situated London Review Bookshop. Although a relatively new kid on the block compared to some. It was established in 2003 by the London Review of Books, it is now firmly part of London’s literary scene and is on the visit list of many of London’s bookish tourists.
Spread over two floors and housing over 20,000 books, you will find a large collection of poetry and classics along side the latest contemporary fiction. The cookery, history and politics sections are also extensive. There is something here for everyone and the booksellers really know their stuff, as you would expect from this literary shop. I have been here before and asked for suggestions of books to buy for a fan of Patrica Highsmith and been presented with an eclectic list of possibilities.
There is a bijoux but very good cafe selling lots of cake attached to the shop. Finding a seat at weekends can be tricky but if you are there in the middle of the week you may be lucky and it is the perfect place to sit and read or talk books.
