Day 24 – Hatchard Christmas Book Tree

This post is for my Mum who introduced me to books and reading and bookshops at an early age.  There is nothing we enjoyed more than talking books and bookshopping together.  We reguarly exchanged books and recommendations and always bought each other books for Christmas.

Sadly she died just 4 days ago, suddenly and unexpectedly.  I am of course still reeling and trying to makes sense of this immense loss.

I struggled to know whether it felt appropriate to keep posting here, but I did, partly because the posts were mostly already prepared but also because she was my greatest supporter.  She read every word I wrote, she had been following these advent posts and she was still asking me about my writing until the day before she died.  She would have loved this Christmas book tree and she always encouraged me to finish what I started.

So here it is Day 24, the wonderful Hatchard Christmas book tree in St Pancras station. A place to find a moment of calm and peace, a place to sit and rest a while and listen to a story.

My Mum loved stories and she is a huge part of mine.
